In Montgomery County, 5 of the top 6 selling brands are vodkas, according to George Griffin, Director of the Department of Liquor Control.

"It reflects a national trend that's gone on for over a decade," Griffin said. "There's sort of a return to the cocktail culture. Some people blame it on the Cosmopolitan being popular again after 'Sex in the City'."

Poolesville Teens Open Up The Skate Shack 301

Transworld Business reports that while most high school seniors are worrying about where to apply to college and homecoming, Rudy Martin and Sid Egly spend their time running their own skateboard shop. Based out of Poolesville, Maryland, the two boys, both 17, opened up The Skate Shack 301 about five months ago, and haven’t looked back since.

For Martin and Egly—who both started skating close to eight years ago—the shop and the culture surrounding it has become a big part of their lives. “As the years went by we realized we weren’t quite good enough to become professional skaters, but we wanted to keep the sport of skateboarding a part of our life,” says Egly. “We knew enough about skateboarding that we could help others achieve this goal or at least help them have fun skating.”

Company to Give Away a Heating System

My Plumber Heating and Cooling prides itself on a long history of giving back to the communities that it serves.  As company founder R. Wendell Presgrave explains it, “We consider it our privilege to give something back to the communities that provide our living, and frankly, we love having the opportunity.”  My Plumber has collected many tons of food for the hungry, performed free or deeply discounted plumbing repairs for homeless shelters and in private homes throughout Northern Virginia and Suburban Maryland, and sponsored sports teams, school plays and many other educational activities.  The company also has a tradition of replacing, for free, the oldest, ugliest heating system that it can find each autumn.
