Too Soon? Community Reacts to Lululemon Store Reopening

Lululemon Athletica announced Tuesday, June 14th, that they will reopen the newly renovated Bethesda store on Friday, June 24th.

We stopped by Bethesda Avenue to see what the community thought about the recent news.  There were mixed emotions about the news but for the most part, people were happy to see the store re-open its doors.

“It’s a tragic thing that happened a few months ago, but you have to move on in a positive light and I think it is time for the store to do that,” said Virginia resident Emily Duus.

In March, the store was the scene of a homicide, where employee Jayna Murray was pronounced dead.  Her co-worker Brittany Norwood has since been charged in Murray's murder. They both were 30 years old. Click here to read the full story.

"It is with warm and grateful hearts that we are announcing the re-opening of our newly renovated Bethesda store on Friday, June 24.  The re-opening will embrace the theme of 'love' in honor of Jayna Murray. More than ever, we remain committed to the people of Bethesda and look forward to continuing to share with this community the same love, passion and grace with which Jayna lived her life," said Lululemon in a statement on Facebook.

We spoke with one of the contractors working on the redesign.  He told us that the interior and exterior of the store is 100% re-done, and that the white sheet which has been shielding the store since March will come off as soon as today.
